Classmate Tom Twitty has written a book covering his experience when the Florida Army 231st Army Reserve Boat Unit was called to active duty in May 1968. The story follows the unexpected Activation of the unit to fulfill a secret mission to support "Operation Game Warden." This Medium Boat Company operated 19 heavily armed live-aboard LCM8 landing craft. A six-man crew manned each boat that flew the Florida Flag and always had a fully loaded giant cooler of ice-cold beer. They were branded the Beer Boats of the Delta. Their mission was to deliver troops and all kinds of logistics, including ammunition and beer, through treacherous, enemy-infested Mekong Delta waterways for 12 months.
