Education after Bogie: St. Pete JC 1962-1963 UF BSN 1966, PhD 1994 Work: I retired 2 years ago after 44 years of nursing in various capacities. I have done staff nursing, taught undergraduate students at UF, and after my PhD, I went to USF to start the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. My husband flew in the Navy and I worked all over the country while he was in flight training. While at USF, I commuted to Gainesville and lived during the week on St. Pete Beach with my mother. After she passed away, I came back to Gainesville full time and finished my career working for 10 years in the pediatric clinics at UF as a practitioner. My PhD studies were interdisciplinary in Nursing and Anthropology. I traveled frequently to Chiapas, MX, working with the Mayan people. Interests: Many and varied! I studied karate for many years, flew planes and scuba dived. During my granola years, I had an organic garden and made my own bread, grew vegetables and canned. Sewing was a hobby and I made many party dresses for the first act of the Nutcracker (my girls were dancers). I wove baskets, painted and dabbled in jewelry making. My daughters were involved in sports and I spent many years volunteering at their school and for their activities. My husband and I have traveled extensively. Today, I spend about 20 hours a week caring for my 2 year old twin grandchildren while my daughter works. I absolutely love it!! Unfortunately, my son-in-law will graduate from law school in May and they will be moving to Orlando where he has a job. I will miss them, but with grandchildren in Orlando and Jacksonville, I guess I'm luckier than many. My martial art now is Tai Chi. I volunteer for Guardian ad Litem and one day a week I volunteer in the health department pediatric clinic as a practitioner. I now own the family home on St. Pete Beach and get there as often as I can. My goal when the twins move is to hole up at the beach and write. I have written 2 one act plays, but have several other ideas. I also tried stand up paddleboarding recently (so much fun) and would love to explore Boca Ciega Bay that way.
