LITTLE, Elizabeth Anderson "Betsy" 80, of McDowell, VA passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at The Legacy in Staunton after an extended illness. She was born Feb. 28, 1944, in St. Petersburg, FL, the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine McClure Anderson. She lived in Augusta County as a child. Betsy's career in the newspaper business began when she was the middle school correspondent for the St. Petersburg, FL, Times. She later was a copy editor and served as a marketing director at the Times. She also served as a copy editor for the Palo Alto, CA, Times and was a marketing director for United Features in New York City. Betsy was the most cheerful person anyone ever met and was unfailingly kind. She loved Highland County. She loved her flowers and her vegetable garden. She was self-reliant and confident. When Chris was tied up with business, Betsy would put her dog in her jeep and drive many, many hours to get to Highland County. Betsy loved and appreciated people who helped her at The Legacy. She smiled a lot. She made friends easily. She was affectionate, even at the end. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Christopher "Chris" Little of McDowell, whom she married Oct. 15, 1988; his son, Timothy Little and family of Arlington; his daughter, Meg Pearson and family of Alexandria; and sisters, Josephine Bowman of Tallahassee, FL, and Sally Thompson of Clinton, WA.
