Andrew Lance Stigaard

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, Andrew Lance Stigaard passed away from Covid at the age of 76 in Uruapan, Michoacán de Ocampo, Mexico.

Andy was born December 6, 1944, in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was the youngest child of John Stigaard and Harriet Horton Stigaard. The family moved to Treasure Island, Florida, and Andy graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1962. Afterward, Andy served in the Air Force for three years, during which time he was stationed in Germany.

Andy was a graduate from Florida State University with Master’s degree in Social Work.He worked with juvenile services in Oregon, until returning to Florida to care for his mother. Andy settled in Dunedin, Florida, and ran several senior assisted living group homes with his wife Edna until her death. Afterward he retired, and later moved to Mexico.

Andy was an avid reader of books, his favorite painter was Monet, he loved to travel, and was the definition of a free spirit. He would love to listen to music and went to many concerts in his life. He was very passionate about holistic health, vitamins, and herbs. He loved to garden and fell in love with the lucious green land surrounded by montains in Uruapan. Andy lived by the golden rule of treat others the way one wants to be treated. He was happy and loved life regardless of the health ailments he had. At least he is no longer suffering physically and found peace in his life.  

Andy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna Tan Stigaard, his sister Margaret Jean “Peggy” Jones, and brothers John Horton Stigaard and Paul William Stigaard. He is survived by his daughters Dana Tan Stigaard and Kristin Amanda Stigaard, his stepchildren May Apo Fasulo and Darvin Mark Apo, and many nieces and nephews
