William Fletcher

LETCHER, William Tyler Jr. age 70, passed away on Sept. 1, 2014, in Lutz. He was born on June 5, 1944, in St. Louis, MO, to Alice and William T. Fletcher Sr. He grew up in St. Joseph, MO, and graduated college with a B.S. Degree in Business in 1967. He moved to Florida in 1968 and married Cheryl in 1977. His company, American Distributors, sold fundraising supplies to schools for 30 years and he was known as the "Candyman." After a lifetime of sports including baseball, football and tennis, his latest passions included sailing and golf. He was a 30 year member of the Davis Island Yacht Club and played golf every chance he got. Bill had a passion for life like no other. Whether on European explorations, countless cross-country road trips, golfing his way around America or racing through Tampa Bay during DIYC regattas, Bill found joy wherever he went. Survivors include his daughter, Katie; his sister, Peggy Colwell and (husband, Tom). Bill never met a stranger, making friends wherever he went. He is also survived by his extended family, friends and any 'strangers' he met along the way. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl. Services will be held on Sept. 12, at 3 pm, at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa FL 33618. Please join us to celebrate this man who loved life.
