George (Chip) Burgess

George E. ("Chip") Burgess, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Feb. 22, 2018. Chip was born in East Orange, NJ, July 11, 1944 to George and Jeanette Burgess. He grew up on St. Pete Beach. He attended and graduated from Boca Ciega High School. He then continued his education at St. Pete Junior College and attended the University of Florida. After college, he was a New York Life Agent for 48 years where he was recognized as a member of the Million Dollar Round Table multiple times. Chip loved and was very involved with his family and community. He was a Coach and Mentor for many of his children's youth sports teams and President of the Dads Club at Clearwater Central Catholic High School. He was passionate about fishing, boating, being outside and he was an avid reader. He was a member at St. Jerome Catholic Church. He leaves behind three children, a daughter, Lisa Vinci (Steven); sons, Chad Burgess (Aimee), Robert Burgess (Airica Dryden). Plus, six amazing grandchildren, Austin Chambers, Cole Burgess, Caleb Burgess, Madeline Vinci, Dylan Vinci and one grandson due in April. Chip was preceded in death by his father, George E. Burgess II; mother, Jeanette Smith Burgess; brother, Robert W. Burgess.Chip never met a stranger. He always greeted everyone with a smile and a genuine compliment, he was loved by so many people and will always be missed. Dad will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral Service will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd., Largo, FL 33774, March 1 at 2 pm followed by burial service and celebration of life at Serenity Gardens, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774. I too remember that smile, and winning way. Nice to see how he loved and was loved. Sad for the loss.
